Four steps to your own motigo forum

Login

Login at motigo with your username and password.

Create forum

Look for the Forums section in your account overview and click on “Create a new forum”.

Fill in all fields and click on “Create forum”.

You will find your new forum in the forum list on the left. To fill your forum with content, please create at least one group and one subforum.

To do this, please click on the new forum on the forum list on the left and select “Groups and Forums” from the dropdown menu.

First, create a group:

Please choose a name for this group and click on “Create new group”:

Then click on "Back" to go back to the Groups and Forums menu.

Now you can create a subforum in this group:

Please fill in all fields. The text in the description will inform the forum users about the theme of this subforum. You can also determine here wether this subforum should be open to all forum users or only for moderators. Once you are ready, please clic on “Create subforum”.

Click now on “Back”. Your forum has now one group and one subforum. You can create as many groups and subforums as you wish. You alone decide about the structure of your forum

In the “Groups and Forums” menu you get an overview of all groups and subforums in your forum. If you want to edit or change the settings of a group or subforum you just have to click on the tool icon. If you want to delete a group or a subforum, just click on the “minus” icon.

Now you will also find your new forum on your account overview. To get to the forum’s admin area just click on the tool icon close to the forum you would like to edit.

Forum’s Admin Area:

Click on the forum you want to edit on the forum buttons on the left of the admin page. Using the options in the pulldown menu you can customize the layout of your forum, administrate users, decide about moderator’s rights and a lot more. Don’t forget to cilck on “Save settings” to save your changes :)!

Set moderator rights

Please note: To be a forum member or moderator you must register in the forum. To get to your forum page, just click on the forum’s name on your account overview. Once on the forum page, click on “Register” to become a forum member.

You will then receive a mail with a confirmation link.

Please click on this link to confirm your membership. You will then see the following message:

You are now a regular forum member. To get moderator’s rights and be able to edit, close or move posts you have to give yourself a moderator status. To do this, go to the forums admin area (by clicking on “Forums” on your account overview – see image 13). Click now on the forum you would like to administrate on the forum list on the left and then select the option “Administrate users”.

Click now on [Mod.] and give yourself super moderator rights (this means you have moderator rights on all subforums). You can delete members using the „minus“ icon or change their status using the tool icon.

Using this menu option you can also give moderator’s rights (for some selected forums) or super moderator rights (for all forums) to other forum members:

Please remember to click on “Save settings” !

To act as moderator, go to your forum page (clik the link to your forum in your account overview or in the overview of your forums in the admin area). Login to the forum with your username and password. If you click on a message as a super moderator you can edit posts in your forum using the following icons:

Customize your forum

To personalize and customize your forum, please login at motigo and go to the forums admin area by clicking on the tool icon close to the forum’s name. Please use the options in the dropdown menu:

• In "General Settings" you can open or close your forum, decide about guest access or the page structure of the forum.

• In "Select layout" and "Customize Layout" you can give your forum the look you like. The forum’s layout is totally customizable, so that you can you choose and adapt, colours, font sizes, background and much more

• In "Icons", "Smilies", "Buttons" or "Avatars" you can upload your own images so that all forum members can use them.

• Use the HTML Area to personalize your forum even more. Your forum has two HTML areas (on top and bottom of the page) where you can use html code, insert links, banners, objects, etc.

• Use the Ban words/ Ban e-mail address/ Ban username options to exclude certain words or users from you forum.

Your motigo forum is totally customizable and gives you many options to decide about its look and using possiblities. Please take your time to get to know all options – they are easy to use and there is always a short explanation telling you what you can do in each menu option.
